The Province of Rizal is rich in significant deposit of mineral resources especially non-metallic minerals such as basalt, limestone, marble, dacite, diorite, among others which are integral components in the construction industry necessary to invigorate the economic activities of the province as well as Metro Manila including neighboring provinces. The area in Rodriguez specifically the barangay of San Isidro is a known source of aggregates. It was declared as Quarry Zone by LGU-Rodriguez in CY 2001. Quarries with crushing plants thereat were issued by the LGU-Province, and three (3) Mineral Processing Permits (MPPs) were issued by MGB-IVA
In relation to this, a geological assessment and relocation survey was conducted within the twenty-one (21) hectares property located on the headwater of Lukutan Munti creek in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal province. The area is known for the source of construction materials used in construction projects in Rizal, Metro Manila and vicinities.
LOCATION, ACCESSSIBILITY, TOPOGRAPHY AND DRAINAGE
The property is approximately centered at geographic coordinates 14̊048’ 50” N and 1210 9’ 37.5” E in Brgy. San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal. From the barangay proper, the property is accessible by fourwheel vehicle or used of single motorcycle thru approximately 3.65 kilometers of newly constructed quarry road. The area can also be reached by hiking of approximately 1.9 km of logging road from So. Licao-licao at Brgy Balabag. The road is located at the top ridge bounding the northwest portion of the property. The property is characterized by spurs, ridges and valleys that trends southeast. It has an elevation ranging from 170 to 400 meters above mean sea level. The Lukutan Munti Creek and its tributaries drains the property
